The Down River Kayak Club Inc (DRKC)
DRKC is a friendly, supportive community for paddlers of all levels who share a love of the Waimakariri River and beyond. Based in Canterbury, our club brings together people passionate about kayaking, whether you’re training for races like the Coast to Coast, building river skills, or simply enjoying time on the water with others.
We offer regular club trips, training sessions, and events, as well as access to safety resources, checklists, and guidance to help paddlers develop confidence and competence on moving water. Members benefit from a strong culture of mentorship and camaraderie, with experienced paddlers always ready to share knowledge and support newcomers.
Beyond the water, we’re a social club too, with plenty of opportunities to connect and celebrate achievements. DRKC is here to help you paddle smarter, safer, and stronger, while having fun with a community that values adventure and teamwork.
